Its been awhile since we have done a spotlight on one of our Stake's outstanding Indexers, so we thought we'd start again with Sister Janet Snow.
Janet Snow currently holds the title of “Number One Indexer” in the entire Pleasant View South Stake. Sister Snow started Indexing after watching her husband do some batches and when her Visiting Teacher, Keitha Robinson, told her how much she enjoyed doing this work. Janet registered in October 2009 and took off immediately. So far this year she has Indexed 60,044 and Arbitrated 25,689 records.
Sister Snow’s favorite time to work on Indexing is in the mornings and anytime on Sundays. Her church calling is Ward Missionary in the Pleasant View 8th Ward. Her children have grown and left home, but she is the full-time caregiver to her mother who lives in the Snow's home.
Janet says she misses the 1930 U.S. Census and is anxiously looking forward to the 1940 Census when it is released sometime next year. Since completing the U.S. Census batches, she has worked on some very challenging English Parrish records.
Sister Snow says her favorite thing about Indexing is the feeling of accomplishment she experiences. She feels that Indexing is such a good utilization of her time and a wonderful service to others. She also loves the way the answers come to her when she is puzzling over a name or place which is difficult to read and suddenly has that ‘ah ha’ feeling when it is revealed to her.
We are grateful to Sister Snow for the fabulous work she performs as an Indexer and Arbitrator in our Stake. She has an amazing attitude about Indexing and is very generous to dedicate so much time to this effort!
