A Call to our Indexers

I know there are some of our amazing Stake Indexers who have incredible stories to share about Indexing.  We want to hear/read those stories.  Please phone or email Rob or Georgia Crouch (801-737-4787 - jojaworld@yahoo.com) so you can become a 'Guest Blogger' on this site and share your experiences.

These stories can help us gain stronger testimonies of this great work and encourage others to become involved.  Please share experiences when you've felt the Spirit giving you promtings about a difficult record or if you've Indexed an ancestor's name.  We'd like to hear about humorious or interesting names, professions, or other information.  I love to come across twins' names like Paul & Paula, Clyde & Clydette, and Wilma & William (I've indexed these and many other fun sound-alike twin names from 1930 census pages.)

We'd like to have you share anything that has sparked your interest or curiosity.  Thank you!

  1. Georgia, I'm really impressed with what your stake is doing. As far as I know there is no emphasis in our stake (that I know of). I had a desire to index and volunteered a couple of years ago on-line. I haven't had a single person even acknowledge that I'm doing it (which isn't why I'm doing it or I wouldn't be!!!) I just have a love of family history and have always wanted to do it since watching my mother do extractions as a child.

Interesting census indexing that I have done has included, prisons, convents. I also loved indexing my state that I now live in. It was fun to actually know where the people had lived. I also have found it interesting how many people name their daughters after their mothers. I've also been surprised at how few "Tina's" I've indexed!!!

It is very interesting, rewarding and addicting project to work on.
