Some Directions on Race/Tribe

With the availability of the 1930 Federal Census pages in Alaska, Arizona and other states with Native populations, we are sometimes seeing unusual race designations written on  forms.   Headquarters says the correct way to Index 'Mixed Blood' or 'Multi-Race' or other things written in either the Race column or The Place Born column is to mark it blank.  

So if parents are of different races and children are listed as some form of 'mixed' (other than Mulatto or other race listed in the look up list), please mark it blank.  If Native Peoples are shown as born in a tribe or of mixed blood in the "Place Born" column, please mark it blank.
